This week the Committee for Adelaide met with Commonwealth Games Australia to discuss the impacts of the most recent games on the Gold Coast and explore opportunities around Adelaide hosting the Games in 2026.
In particular, we began to explore benefits related to place building and social impacts that go beyond the 12-day sporting event, providing a lasting legacy for our city.
The idea of hosting the Commonwealth Games was discussed at our planning day and we welcome the State Government’s feasibility study into the event.
