What We Do

Our mission is to provide independent thought leadership, advocacy, and influence policy for the benefit of our state, both now and into the future.

Our vision for Greater Adelaide is to be the most extraordinary, big thinking, welcoming and vibrant global city with a population of 2 million by 2030.

We are a mid-sized city with a strong economic base underpinned by an exceptionally high-quality standard of living, significant tertiary sector and a clear economic agenda that enjoys bipartisan support.

Attracting capital and talent is what will drive us there. It will take vision and courage, but the policy settings are in front of us.

We will work collaboratively with our members and partners, to discuss and develop innovative solutions that set us apart.

Ultimately, the actions we take now will impact our State and quality of life, health and wellbeing of our future generations.

Our Key Pillars

Future-ready and thriving economy

Changing the narrative about Adelaide and promoting its competitive advantage nationally and globally is core to our state’s economic growth and future prosperity.

Adelaide prides itself on being ‘designed for life’ and is renowned for its liveable lifestyle. Our quality of life and boutique sized city set us apart enabling us to build exceptional networks and connectivity across business, industry, education, not-for-profit and government.

Adelaide has a compelling brand that needs to be promoted. Building on our competitive advantages, we will lead and advocate for collaborative marketing efforts to increase our state’s attractiveness for talent and investment – locally, nationally, and globally.

We want more global businesses to be created and based here. This means having significant capital available to support local start-ups and businesses scaling up.

As our state reaches a population of over 2 million, we will advocate for world leading integrated infrastructure to support our growing population.

We have world leading industries and innovations geared towards a healthy, green, and sustainable future. Our business and industry foundations are based on globally recognised environmental, sustainable and governance principles that set us apart for investors, contributing to our state’s brand narrative and adding value to our international competitiveness. Through our work we will draw on our state’s innovations to help us grow sustainably.

Talent attractor and retainer

As a future-ready and thriving economy, Greater Adelaide will become a major attractor and retainer of the world’s best talent.

Pre-pandemic our state lost thousands of young people each year due to interstate and overseas migration. Whilst the pandemic saw a reversal of this trend, we are concerned that this loss will return as borders open.

We want our young talent to stay. Through our work, we want to see the state build a more vibrant economic, social and career environment that convinces them that they have no need to leave.

We also want Greater Adelaide to be known as an attractor of talent. Migration has been critical to our population growth and will continue to be heavily reliant on it in the coming years as our population ages. We have emerging and growing businesses that need talent to support their operations and future growth plans. Migration will play an important role in meeting workforce demands.

Our focus is on ensuring there is sufficient talent to meet labour force demands now and into the future, including local, interstate and global talent.

Inclusive community and culture

Welcoming, inclusive, and diverse communities are critical in attracting and retaining businesses and talent.

Our mid-sized city provides the foundation for our close-knit community, where people can come together to network and socialise in a safe and welcoming environment.

As we work to strengthen our diversity and inclusivity, we want to ensure that no one gets left behind and that everyone in our community has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to our state’s future prosperity.

Our culture, arts, and creative industries are an integral part of our community’s success in attracting talent, welcoming diversity, and enriching the lives of all South Australians.

By bringing together capital, talent, brand promotion and culture, we will capitalise on the significant value our state offers as one of the most liveable cities in Australia and the world.

Adelaide Connected Program

Adelaide Connected is a program powered by the Committee for Adelaide, designed for people who are considering a move to South Australia or have recently moved and want to learn more about our city, the opportunities, the lifestyle, and most importantly, the connections that can be made. We are here to help facilitate introductions and connect people to industry and other networks.

Adelaide Connected seeks to cement Adelaide’s reputation as a desirable place to live, study, work, invest and do business. We want to create a narrative for the State about people coming to here and to tap into the valuable international business and other networks of expats, foreign alumni, and people that have chosen Adelaide to live and work.
