2026 State Election Priorities

South Australia is at a turning point as we head toward the 2026 State Election Priorities.

Major projects like Adelaide University merger, AUKUS, BHP’s Copper SA asset, the new Women’s & Children’s Hospital, the North-South Corridor and State Prosperity Projects are shaping our future. At the same time, we face complex challenges: stagnant productivity, ongoing housing pressures, rising living costs, a stretched healthcare system, gaps in active and public transport infrastructure, a changing climate, an ageing population, youth disengagement, and growing inequality.

The Committee for Adelaide has engaged extensively with members and stakeholders over the past 12 months to inform our 2026 State Election Priorities. Our 2025 Benchmarking Adelaide and Listening Forum Report provide insights into how Adelaide compares globally and what our community sees as the state’s most pressing priorities.

From this work, we have identified five key focus areas for the 2026 State Election:

These priorities call for bold, long-term decision-making and collaboration across government, industry, academia, and the community. The choices we make now will determine whether South Australia thrives, not just in the next four years, but for generations to come.
