The Committee for Adelaide was well represented at the recent Bank SA’s Trends economic bulletin launch with both CEO Jodie van Deventer and Board member Andrew Culley, wearing his Deloitte hat, joining the Premier and Opposition Leader in a panel discussion on population growth.
To achieve growth targets, major changes are needed to the Federal migration system and it was great to hear both political leaders’ support for this.
This coincides with more of our Federal politicians waking up to the fact that instead of cutting migration numbers to help Sydney and Melbourne, it makes more sense to implement measures to decentralise the population.
There is still a long way to go but broad bipartisanship at the State level on this issue is an important first step.
