At our latest Ministerial Fireside Series event, members had the opportunity to hear from the Hon Alice Rolls MP, Minister for Child Protection and Minister for Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence.

Minister Rolls reflected candidly on her first six months in Parliament and Cabinet, having stepped directly into two of government’s most complex and important portfolios.

Drawing on her extensive legal background, she shared a genuinely fresh perspective on the responsibility of improving outcomes for vulnerable South Australians. While these portfolios may not always be viewed through an economic lens, their connection to our state’s prosperity is clear: when people are safe, supported and able to participate in meaningful work, our communities and economy are stronger.

The Minister acknowledged that she inherited portfolios with strong foundations, while recognising there is always more work to do. It was encouraging to hear about the momentum behind implementing the findings of the Royal Commission and her commitment to listening carefully, considering different perspectives and delivering practical improvements.
