We recently undertook a member survey to find out how members were fairing in relation to skills shortages and workforce planning as businesses continue to grapple with the impacts of the pandemic and border closures.
Key highlights:
- members felt much more positive about the remainder of the year with 71% reporting business prospects were better or much better compared with just 23% in 2020
- the impact on skills shortages was evident with significantly more businesses (75%) reporting somewhat or significantly too few staff compared to 34% last year
- a majority of members (77.5%) expect to employ more staff by 30 June 2022 with most seeking to hire staff with Bachelor degree or higher qualifications
- 61% indicated a somewhat negative or negative impact on workforce planning with the continued closure of international borders
Our Sustainability for People working group chaired by Milly Vorrasi from HAYS will be looking closely at the survey results to explore the key issues and needs of our members at our upcoming meetings.
