Welcoming Foodbank SA as an Associate Member of the Committee for Adelaide, nominated by St Vincent de Paul Society as part of their Platinum membership.
Foodbank South Australia is a non-profit organisation established in South Australia in 2000, with a vision to achieve a South Australia without hunger. They source food from the food industry and make it available to welfare agencies and people in need.
They work with the food and grocery industry to give new life to surplus and donated products. They also collaborate with farmers, manufacturers and the government on innovative programs to produce key staple foods such as pasta, breakfast cereals, sauces and sausages.
Foodbank SA offers a variety of foods either free of charge or at very low cost to welfare and community support agencies, including schools. Foodbank has warehouses in Edwardstown, Berri, Mount Gambier and Whyalla.
“As a charity, Foodbank exists to provide a safety net to the people of SA, by improving their access to healthy food in times of need. While we cannot solve the problems that have afflicted these people, we strongly believe that whenever possible we should do our utmost to improve our society and to increase and enhance the opportunities. By joining the Committee for Adelaide we hope to engage with business and community leaders who share our wish to make Adelaide a better place to live,” Greg Pattinson, CEO, Foodbank SA.
