The Committee for Adelaide convened the second workshop in the ADL2050 Vision Workshop Series, bringing together leaders and thinkers from across sectors to explore what it will take to create a more accessible and connected Adelaide by 2050.
Delivered in partnership with Arup, the interactive workshop focused on reframing accessibility beyond movement alone, considering how people access jobs, services, housing, education, industry, freight networks and economic opportunity across Greater Adelaide.
Building on the momentum of the first workshop on ‘Art and Creativity at the centre of everything’, participants used design-led thinking to challenge assumptions, explore future scenarios and identify practical actions that could shape Adelaide’s long-term growth and competitiveness.
The session explored:
- what currently underpins, enables and constrains access across Greater Adelaide
- how land use, transport, freight and industry intersect to shape connectivity and opportunity
- the characteristics of a future Adelaide where accessibility is embedded into decision-making
- the barriers and enablers that will influence long-term success
- the priority actions needed to create a more connected, inclusive and productive city
Attendees worked collaboratively to define a shared vision for Adelaide in 2050, grounded in both lived experience and economic function, before identifying principles and priorities that can guide future planning and investment decisions.
A key outcome of the workshop will be the development of a focused set of priority actions that will help inform the Committee for Adelaide’s broader ADL2050 Vision document.
The ADL2050 Vision Workshop Series is designed to create a bold, long-term vision for Adelaide by bringing together diverse perspectives and encouraging ambitious, future-focused thinking about the city’s next chapter.
The Committee for Adelaide extends its sincere thanks to Arup for generously hosting the session and supporting this important conversation about Adelaide’s future
