The Committee for Adelaide in partnership with Hays hosted a timely and important conversation on the future of democracy, bringing together an outstanding group of political leaders, commentators, and decision-makers for a thoughtful discussion on the challenges and opportunities shaping South Australia’s future.
From a fireside conversation between Premier the Hon. Peter Malinauskas and our Chair Raymond Spencer, to a keynote address from the Hon. Mike Baird, alongside insights and reflections from former South Australian Premiers and Deputy Premiers including the Hon. Mike Rann, the Hon. Vickie Chapman and the Hon. Dr Susan Close, expertly facilitated by Professor Rodrigo Praino, the event explored changing voter behaviour, public trust, leadership, media disruption and the importance of long-term vision.
We were also thrilled to be joined by election analyst Antony Green who provided his analysis on voting patterns, shifting expectations and the importance of bold, long-term decision making and political courage in shaping cities, even when they conflict with immediate political pressures.
It was also great to have the Hon. Jeffrey Bleich, the Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Dr Jane Lomax-Smith, Louise Miller-Frost MP FAICD, Federal Member for Boothby, Vice Admiral Jonathan Mead AO and members of the Committee for Adelaide, together with representatives from state and local government, industry, academia and the community sector in the room.
A huge thank you to our Major Partner Hays and our supporting Partner The Jeff Bleich Centre for Democracy and Disruptive Technologies for supporting this important conversation, and to our charity partner Hutt St Centre.
