Welcoming the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium as a Non-For-Profit member of the Committee for Adelaide.
The Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium comprises four beautiful botanic estates, the State Herbarium, and the South Australian Seed Conservation Centre. Their public gardens have been a destination for relaxation, recreation, education and cultural engagement for local, national and international visitors for more than 165 years.
The institution is a centre for plant conservation, biodiversity, and research which is dedicated to deepening our scientific understanding of the botanical world. Through their botanical and cultural collections, their education programs, conservation work and science, they share stories and knowledge that connects people to plants, fungi, algae and the living world.
“As a fundamental part of Adelaide’s green heart and a key destination for locals and tourists alike, the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium is delighted to be part of Committee for Adelaide. This is especially true at a time when we are becoming a more and more active participant in the cultural life of the city,” Michael Harvey, Director, Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium.
