Welcoming new member the Goodes O’Loughlin Foundation (GO Foundation) as an Associate member of the Committee for Adelaide, nominated by Platinum member Lendlease.
The GO Foundation was founded by former Sydney Swans greats, Adam Goodes, Adnyamathanha and Narungga Man, and Michael O’Loughlin, Kaurna, Ngarrindjeri and Narungga Man who both grew up in Adelaide.
The GO Foundation exists to ‘empower through education’. They take a strengths-based approach to their work, and as an Aboriginal led and governed organisation they put culture at the heart of everything they do. They deliver a holistic program for students from year 1 through to university and beyond.
What started with a small number of independent school scholarships, has now provided over 1000 scholarship for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander primary, secondary and tertiary students in Sydney, Adelaide and Canberra.
The GO Foundation has been supporting students in Adelaide since 2018 when they awarded a UniSA scholarship. They have been awarding school scholarships since 2019. In 2023 they are supporting 121 students in Adelaide and have employed a part time Scholarships Manager, Tyran Hill who is working on the ground with students, schools and families.
GO’s work is funded by individuals donors, foundations and corporate partners who share their values and who believe in the transformative power of education, and like Adam and Michael, know that education will have the biggest impact on children and communities.
“GO are very excited to be part of the Committee for Adelaide with the direct support of Lendlease. In 2023 we employed our first staff member to be based in Adelaide so we are forging ahead with new relationships in this beautiful city. We look forward to meeting all of our fellow members and to working with you this year and well into the future,” Charlene Davison, CEO, GO Foundation.
