Welcoming The Forktree Project as an Associate member of the Committee for Adelaide, nominated by Platinum member ZEN Energy.
The Forktree Project is a showcase rewilding project that aims to return an extensively cleared former pastoral property in the Fleurieu Peninsula back to nature.
Forktree is entirely off-grid, with all power needs being met via a solar and battery array sponsored by ZEN Energy. Forktree is about showing what is possible in terms of habitat restoration, regenerative agriculture and improved land and water management in response to the twin threats of climate change and biodiversity loss. The project operates a seed orchard to maintain populations rare native plants, a nursery growing native plants for habitat restoration work and a sustainability and wellbeing education program for schools and corporate groups.
“The Forktree Project has joined the Committee for Adelaide to be better connected to those change makers positively impacting the development of Adelaide, and be better placed to contribute to discussion regarding the sustainability of the city and its environs,” Tim Jarvis AM, Founder, The Forktree Project.
